REVIEW: The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

Title: The Immortal Rules
Author: Julie Kagawa
Series: Blood of Eden
Book #: 1
Pages: 512
Rating:

Summary:

In a future world, vampires reign. Humans are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save humanity.
Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten.
Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them. The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked—and given the ultimate choice. Die…or become one of the monsters.
Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad.
Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend—a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike.
But it isn't easy to pass for human. Especially not around Zeke, who might see past the monster inside her. And Allie soon must decide what—and who—is worth dying for.

Selena's POV:
I really loved this book. I really did. I'm obsessed with Vampires, and I love dystopian books, and when those two are combined, you just have the perfect book!

Allie is a very tough girl. She fights everyday to live. In the day, they look for food. In the night, they hope they aren't dinner for the creatures of the night. One day, Allie's life is changed, and she is turned into a Vampire. From there, she gets trained about being a Vampire, the proper way to feed, the proper way to fight, and the understanding of her species.

She then meets a small, human group. She decides to spend time with then, even though she knows the huge risk she's taking. During her time with the humans, she meets a boy named Zeke. He's a born leader, always very caring and understanding.

Throughout this book, Allison struggles to between the life she misses, and the life she was forced to have. This book is heart-wrenching and full of suspense, making you turn the page non-stop.

I loved this book. It was just amazing! When I got my hands on this book, I was so excited! I heard so many great things about this book, I just wanted to read it as fast as I could. I love Allison. She's a tough girl, and I love how she's very confident in every she does. Well, at least some of the things she does. This book was a roller coaster of emotions, and I just loved it. It's nothing like I have ever read before. Julie is an amazing author, and is every talented.

I haven't read any of Julie's other novels, but I have heard they are just as amazing. If you're looking for a dystopian book but with Sci-Fi in it, THIS is the book for YOU! Even if you don't like Sci-Fi, you should read this book just to try it out. I really love the society and how it's set up. It's very interesting and creative!
