The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa has been optioned for film! Palomar Pictures bought the film rights to The Immortal Rules, the first highly anticipated book in the Blood of Eden series, which will be release on April 24th, 2012 by HarlequinTEEN.
The Immortal Rules is a dystopian vampire drama where vampires have taken over most of humanity. Allie despises them, that is until she is attacked by one and must make the decision whether to die or become a monster. Now, she has to learn the rules of being an immortal, but when she flees to an unknown city and attempts to act as a human among a group of people that could have possibly found a cure for the disease, she must decide what - and who - is worth living for.
Joni Sighvatsson was quick to acquire the film rights to The Immortal Rules and the Blood of Eden series, not even waiting for the official release date of the book. According to the press release Sighvatsson said, “It’s simply a great story with an electrifying heroine for the 21st century. It makes the series an ideal subject for a film adaptation," he said. "Julie’s ability to familiarize the reader with this complex world in a few pages demonstrates the cinematic qualities of her imagination and complements my own sensibilities as a film producer."
And Julie Kagawa is also very excited about Sighvatsson acquiring the rights. She feels that he is the right person for her book because he is well established and she knows that he will make a great movie that will respect her material.
It's great to see this become a movie, and it make me wanna read it even MORE!
